I locked myself out of the house this afternoon, and took refuge with a neighbour where I could salvage my Maxibons in her freezer. She’s a lady nearing 70, who I’ve known all my life. I love popping in for a cup of tea and a gossip about the neighbourhood. We got to talking about her plans for a big clean out of her house. She started listing the things she had to get rid of, one of them being a faux fur jacket she wore in the early 60′s. Scha-wing! So we head down to the closet, and she brings out this jacket and it’s amazing! And it fits! I think she was a bit surprised I’d want it, given her own daughter had no interest in it. I fell in love with it at first sight! I’m hanging for some cooler weather to wear it out.
Thank you Lady L!
I finally got around to watching this show, and it is amazing. It’s like someone smooshed together Twin Peaks and a Nine Inch Nails video clip into one fabulous 12 part series. Disappointingly, I’ve run out of New Yorkalicious chocolate covered pretzel treats. They were so yummy. Salty, sweet, crunchy and melty. I’m going to get my Nigella on, and totally going to try my hand at making some during the week.
Now, I’m gonna make the most of the last of the days sunlight and go for a walk. When I get back, I’m gonna curl up on the bed under the fan and watch Episode 6 of American Horror Story.
I found the most adorable outfit for my friend A’s little pouch potato that’s due in a few months. I’m gathering a few little bits and pieces to send to her, care package style.
Also, I can’t believe those floorboards are mine! Reno’s have stalled. Back on it Monday. I have a headboard to make.
In other news, my neck is bung so I’m going to go back to bed with a cup of tea, the cat and American Horror Story, which I’m excited to watch finally!
I’m trying to motivate my folks to renovate their house, so I figured what better way to convince them than to do a reno on the bedroom I’ve perched in since I moved back in with the olds. All my belongings are now boxed up, and my room stripped of everything but the mattress and PC. There’s a strange acoustic to the room that wasn’t here before. My awesome, amazing friend L is trading me his mad painting skills for a super delicious lunch I’m going to prepare in return. He’s so good to me! Truly! Steak for Paint. It’s a deal I can dig!
Today, I’m steaming the rest of the wallpaper off and filling and sanding. All that boring crap that comes before the good stuff. I’m a day or two behind schedule because the weather would have turned the bedroom into a steam room if I’d persevered in the heat. Thank god for 24 degrees and a brief reprieve from the exhausting sun. Wish me luck!
